Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look logged 31.1 million Netflix views in the four days from its Thursday 27 August 2026 debut to Sunday 30 August. That is a completed-viewing equivalent, not a YouTube click — and the cleanest public proof that August’s leak wave did not kill GTA 6 hype.

A Netflix view is not a YouTube view
Netflix defines a “view” as total hours watched ÷ runtime. A ~27-minute special at 31.1 million views is roughly 14 million hours in that window (GamesRadar).
YouTube counts a view when playback starts. Variety and IGN had the official Rockstar file at about 17 million as of Tuesday 1 September.
Do not add 31.1 million and 17 million. A “48 million views” headline from those figures is a third currency. Vice Meta will not print it.
Country chart: 87 of 93
Netflix filed the special as an English-language film. It was No. 1 in 87 of the 93 countries the company tracks. No public per-territory view table exists, so we will not invent one.
Pre-orders: 436% is press-reported, not Take-Two IR
Beebom and other outlets say same-day pre-orders surged 436% after the 27 August Netflix window, citing Sensor Tower estimates. Treat that as press-reported. Not a Take-Two earnings print.
Launch unchanged: Thursday 19 November 2026, PS5 + Xbox Series only. No PC date.
