Grand Theft Auto VI brings six wanted stars back to the HUD and spends the complexity on information, not just spawn tables. Police do not sit on the minimap as a default blip. A crime needs a witness or an alarm. Dispatch gets a description — face, clothes, vehicle, couple — as HUD icons. Hollow stars = crime known, identity not; filled stars = they have a look. Focus highlights officers. Criminal Profile = professional vs sloppy, not RDR2 honour; mission-forced violence does not necessarily shift it. Six-star spawn list is empty on purpose.
Status labels: Confirmed · Press-reported (IGN HQ, Extended Look) · Unconfirmed.
Six stars
Press-reported + visible in Extended Look HUD. Six pips (GTA 5 capped at five). Extended Look showed four lit stars. Nelson: one star relatively easy; six is high-chaos; at three+ in the city, foot/alleys often beat a slow car pull-away.
Cops off the minimap
Press-reported. Needs witness or alarm. Hot areas can stay marked after you leave. Focus finds officers.
What police know (Press-reported)
| Icon | Meaning | Break it |
|---|---|---|
| Silhouette | Face/description | Hair change; mask during job |
| Clothes hanger | Clothing | Full outfit change (trunk kits) |
| Camera | CCTV | Masks can block face ID |
| Vehicle | Car known | Abandon car |
| Couple | Pair known | Split; send one to take heat |
Hollow vs filled = HQ distinction. Extra colour ladders = Unconfirmed unless in official capture.
Shedding heat
Leave hot area; invalidate descriptions; don’t escalate; use alleys; Focus. If either lead is arrested, Busted still applies even if partner runs.
Empty spawn table
Stars 1–6 unit lists = TBD at launch. Do not invent tanks/jets/NOOSE.
Criminal Profile ≠ honour
Press-reported. Professional vs sloppy. Pattern can change free-roam/story reactions. Mission-required aggression won’t necessarily move it. TGG shatter/menu details = Press-reported creator wave, not Rockstar FAQ.
Couple as a wanted object
Split to drop couple icon. Switch instant together, delayed apart. Romance optional; no specific gameplay bonus for maxing (IGN).
